A wind of change ^^

Hello guys ;)

This time I decided that I will NOT keep you waiting for few weeks before posting again.

Actually I finally have some decent news (personally I would call these 'good', but maybe not everyone is going to share my enthusiasm so I am sticking to 'decent'). I made myself a surprise on Saint Nicholas Day (6th December) and actually returned directly to 'Civilization'!

Why now of all times? Does that mean I am not busy with my work anymore?
Actually, I decided to give up on one of my real-life hobbies, what gave me some additional free time - hopefully enough to keep my focus at high enough level to rejoin Meretrix indefinitely ;)
Putting that aside for a second - I still have a busy period at work - so no promises about the amount of time I could be spending on The Endless World but last 3 days gave me enough time to feel satisfied with the progress.

Well, maybe not a real progress - there is no new content added yet, after the break. What I have done in the last 72 hours then?
1. Played the game myself for the first time. - I don't like testing, so I usually save such things for much later. The surprising fact is that playing the implemented content (and I only choose one route for every quest - haven't checked everything - though I DID complete all the side quests) took me 3 hours and 20 minutes. I hope I didn't slack off somewhere during the playthrough and the clock is showing the right time. Oh - and I obviously didn't skip any dialogues and always chose the longest solutions. (for example intro can be skipped almost fully, and I decided to go with the highly detailed one - which included summary of the begininng)
2. Fixed A LOT of smaller and bigger bugs. Tackled some spellings - BUT not all of them yet :P
3. Fixed quite a few system issues - hopefully overcame my earlier struggling with the bars on top of the screen.

Tonight - I am going to bed. But probably next time I will have a spare time I will finally be back to adding the content to the game! :)

If the Lady Luck allows this is going to be a really nice December and a great way of entering the new year ;)

Sad Autumn time...

Hello guys.

It's been a LONG time (more than a month actually...) since my last post and it's probably the high time I give a sign of life.

Unfortunately - there are no great news coming for now.

My current situation looks as follows:
I am currently working in real life 7 days a week... (Since the beginning of October) and it is likely that this will last till the first week of December. With that said - I usually have little to no time to put some creative stuff together. Luckily - I am hoping to get a bit more freedom when the year will be nearing the end.

On the bright side: I still spend these tiny bits of spare time mostly on my games. I am even often tempted with getting back to Meretrix story directly - but I know it's not going to work unless I can sit at it for some hours. Therefore my main focus went to the text based project and my concept reached 20 pages already. Hopefully, I can pull this one nicely before the time for Civilization comes again.

PS: There is no Civilization demo available and unfortunately there won't be one for quite some time. The only thing that can grately shorten the time of waiting for this, is me getting a graphic maker to support the project or enough Patreon donations to hire a quality artist.

Searching for legal image resources and taking a slight detour.

Greetings guys,

It's been some time.

I've had some time to consider the results of last two polls and I've decided to work on a bit different project, letting Meretrix and her advantures rest for some weeks.

The general idea of the new project:
Text based, possibly with real-world pictures and/or gifs added (or some test renders, if I manage to find the right tool for TEW).
I am not yet ready to tell the details about the plot, but most likely it is going to include involuntary body swapping of the main character. So we are going to get into the skin of a girl, who used to be a man not too long before.

You are of course welcome to share your thoughts on the idea ;3

I am also still looking for the right tool for 3d renders, or any other source to make at least decent graphics by myself. But, please keep in mind that I am not sure if I can use the tools with 'for non-commercial use only', because although the project itself is non-commercial, I still have a Patreon Page up.

Some dillemas and two new polls.

Hello guys,

I have been struggling with graphical issues for quite a while now, and to be honest I have reached a wall... I mean, my main graphic maker was online like 3 or 4 times last 3-4 months... When he shows up we can talk, chat and spend few hours on planning, but after that I am left alone stuck with waiting.

I honestly wish, he would be the one to prepare the graphical side of the game as I really like his work and I also like him as a person. I am however starting to consider other solutions...

It's not that I don't believe in him - there is still faith on my side. However I am spending more and more time outside of the rpg maker, writing and planning, because - well - graphical side is lacking here and there and yet in another place...

That made me wonder, if any of the readers and followers of my blog know some 3d rendering methods, which even an amatour like myself could use to create scenes? Of course, I am asking just in case if I fail to come up withany idea for regular pictures in the game. If you know something, please let me know in the comments or on my email.

Also, while taking notes to the Meretrix's story I came up with a bundle of ideas, which may not really fit to 'Civilization' so I've started to think about not really too time consuming side-project. I started to wonder if maybe I should try writing it down and share an actual game with you guys while waiting for the second part of TEW? It would be 100% text based project (maybe with some erotic pictures added), so I can handle EVERYTHING myself, and have it actually completed in a relatively short period of time.

Of course, I ensure all of you that The Endless World is my highest priority and the game's future is not endangered by any of my recent struggles. To make it more valid, my graphic maker tested the current content before dissapearing again, and it should already have around 2 hours of playtime. I know it's not the mountain peak, but I say it's at least a good start ;)

With all that mentioned I will start two new polls to see your opinion about these two news from my side.

Also, I strongly encourage to write more of your thoughts if you think that the poll doesn't do the justice for your judgement of the questions.

I am of course back...

Hi there everybody,

Not much to write about. Just wanted to tell you that i basically returned from my trip according to plan. Still the ending week was mostly fruitless. I had no contact with RPG Maker yet after coming back. On the bright side I had taken a lot of notes and thought quite a few ideas - mostly for the background. I might spend next few days using MS Word rather than the actual maker.

Holiday

Hello guys,

It's been a while since my last post and even today it's only a regular update. I've been struggling a bit lately, just getting few touches here and there, but not managing to make any real breakthrough... Not that I was expecting an.

But the main point of this post is to tell you that I am going on a week long trip, to recharge my batteries and hopefully have some decent rest. I should be back around next Monday and hopefully I will get back to work on 'Civilization right after my return.

The faces idea approved.

Hello there.

Just a short news to tell you that I appreciate how many of you decided to paritipate in the voting.

The results ae very close to what I have had in mind. As of now I am considering using custom faces for main characters, while totally skipping faces for random NPCs, who are not taking any part at all in the plot of either main or side stuff. With this option I could probabyly still leave generated faces for NPCs, who at least take part in quests, even if these are not important otherwise.

Faces display curiosity and a poll at last.

Hello there guys,

Why working on yet another dialogue lines I started to wonder about one little detail...

Of course RPG Maker MV gives us the opportunity to see quite nicely made faces for standard characters, but still with a number of NPCs exceeding 100 the faces must become repeatable and with time might get a bit dull. Especially if one have already seen these randomly generated faces in other titles...

I decided to take a short pause and reconsider it. Do we actually need faces for NPCs? With that in mind I decided to take a look at few other titles and I have confirmed that some of my colleagues actually gave up on the face sets for random people, leaving themselves with only few custom made faces for the main cast...

With all of that I decided to ask how do you feel about such a solution, because I am getting more and more convinced that NPCs are not really worth the trouble as their faces don't add anything at all (unless each one of them would receive a full faceset with many mimics, but that would greatly exceed the time needed for such trivial matter), they don;t show any emotion or anything...

There are three options to choose from:
1. Leaving only important characters with faces. Of course the faces will be custom made, as there is no other option I am considering for the main cast...
2. Giving every single NPC a rather emotionless face, just to make them have one. It's the solution which I have been implementing so far, but I am getting more and more convinced that it's not worth the fuss...
3. This option is a bit extreme, and it suggests that NPCs are so important to you that you think I should spend a lot of time and resources to try to give all NPCs an actual face and try to add some emotion to it... I honestly hope that's not the case but I want to know your opinion guys, so here is the chance if you really wish to prove me wrong...

I know that I can count on you guys when it comes to polls so please, vote and choose whatever suits you best ;)

Getting ambitious!

Hello there guys ;)

I just wanted to boast a little bit about how my predctions happened to be on mark.

I strongly suspected that June will give me more time to work on the game and it turned out that I have spent most of my free time on the 'Civilization'! I haven't had such a solid month for a long time :)

With that said, July and August are supposed to be the most loose and easy months at my regular work in every year schedule, so I have big hopes for the next 8 or 9 weeks!

Hopefuly, I will be able to have some good news about the actual content - and not only about how hard I am working :P - during this period ;)

Long live June!

Hello guys!

I am in a very cheerful mode, because last two weeks I was finally able to work at my favourite pace. For the first time since March (if I remember well) I was able to spend 90% of my free time at 'Civilization'.

As a result I was able to finally complete the Ability Quests, which are going to be vital for the game mechanics.
I have also progressed quite much with the Main Story line.
Haven't tested it yet, but I believe the things I have implemented should be quite close to what I wanted to achieve story-wise.
I have also written first two H-Scenes, although I will have to wait for lukenukeas' free time to iplement these graphic-wise as well.

With all that said, I am very happy that we have June now, and a prospect of July and August seems no less bright ;)

A regular but optimistic update.

Hello guys.

As my previous posts were somehow revealing my plans, today's post shouldn't come as a big surprise.

With the beginning of June my real-life job gives me more and more spare time. Therefore last week I have spent quite focused on the 'Civilization'. It was my best spell at the project since I became really busy in April-May period ;), so I would say it's some awesome news (for me at least :P).

As usually: Nothing flashy or too fancy was created, but writing new events is going well, and I am happy with that :)

Also, I got in touch with lukenukeas and he seemed determined to restart his work on the project in the upcoming weeks as well. I really hope to see more of him in the coming days and weeks ;)

Anyhow, we are back on the right tracks, so keep tuned guys ;)

Just another update and a minor (hopefully) trouble

Hi guys,

Been a while.
As I have assumed, my work in April and May wasn't great and honestly - although I am doing some progress every single week - I am not satisfied with my pace. Luckily, as I have already mentioned two months ago my time which I can dedicate to the project should increase with every week starting June and during July and August it should reach it's peak, as I will have much more free time from my every day job :)

Now, there are some bad news, or perhaps more of my worries... During last months I struggle to get in touch with lukenukeas. It's enough to say that I have last 'seen' him a month ago, and his few-weeks-long sudden dissapearances make me quite unsure about my schedule here... Of course I have my strong believes that he will soon be online more frequently and we will both resume the work on more graphical and technical stuff (I basically must put on hold system stuff, as I prefer someone with more skills than myself to take care of bars and such things, so I need to consult these regulary while implementing). But just in case lukenukeas won't be able to return for much longer:

IF ANYONE WITH GRAPHICS SKILLS IS INTERESTED IN JOINING THE PROJECT PLEASE, PM ME.
This would make my work here MUCh more consistant and it would make things faster even if I am busy with my work.

Nevertheless, keep tuned guys :) And in a bit slower times like this I hope you can look forward to the hard-working summer with me :)

The Spring Time.

Hi there guys,

As I have written almost 3 weeks ago: the time went really fast for me in April due to my real life job and other stuff. But there is also some happy news: First week of May brought some fresh air and I was able to finally work at my usual pace! So writing events is progressing smoothly again :) I am not sure if this month will allow me to keep it for long, but for now I am really happy and quite focused on the project :)

Also, there are still no 'flashy' news, as there was no actual progress with graphics. Lukenukeas took his time setting his new PC, so we didn't have much time to contact each other, and he had even less for doing some work for 'Civilization'. Luckily, with his new machine he should be in his top form soon, so I really can't wait to see him back on the project with me ;)

A difficult spring time.

Hi guys yet again.

I have decided to give you some REAL insight into my plans. It is usually against my policy, but this one and only time I decided that it would be unfair to just leave you hanging.

As most of you already know, I can only use a part of my after-work time to create the game. That means that the great part of my every day life is scheduled with totally different tasks, which allow me to eat :P

What is more, in my job usually April and May are the two months, which CAN and usually do require more focus on the tasks at hand. With all that said I just wish to warn you that if I do not post any news in 2-3 weeks time period it does not mean that there are any problems with the project.

On the contrary, it is already middle of the April and I try to add at least some little things every now and then, without leaving the project for longer spells.

However, my work should regain its best pace somewhere in June, and I hope I can have plenty of time for the project during the whole summer period.

With that in mind, my strong desire is to have the detailed demo ready somewhere at the end of the Summer! That is NOT a promise, but if everything progress as I would like it is a highly possible time of release.

The demo will of course provide more than just a single hour of gameplay or something and it is going to be quite complex (as the quest lines and maps already are).

Just an update.

Unfortunately, I've lost contact with lukenukeas AGAIn since the beginning of April, so last week I've been stuck exclusively with writing some new events, no bigger graphic nad system tweaks...

I've luckily managed to add three new quests, which I consider quite important ones:)

Experimenting with system stuff...

The poll is nearing its end and the results does not come as a big surprise this time, as it's clear that most of you want it a bit challanging.

But it's not a news about the results...

I just wanted to show you some latest experiments of lukenukeas and mine connected with the overal display of the game (portrait implemented, bars, daytime, so on)...
How do you like it guys? For me it looks awesome so far ^^ If you wish you are welcome to share your thoughts in the comments of course ;)

Unfortunately, this version of the on-screen-stats is not final and it will have to see at least some minor changes due to technical issues. Hopefully it's really close to the final form ;)

A poll after a while

Hi guys!

I know it's ben some time since last poll but taking the opportunity that the post engine is finally back to it's usual usefulness I decided to come up with something.

For those of you, who find the options in it a bit confusing a short explanation:

I am asking wether you wish to be led by your hand while playing the game, or to have some stuff to figure out and dfind unexpected tweaks.

The first option in the poll means that the game should hint everything:
'If you have ability X you will be able to use it here in the future'
'If you choose this option, the character will return later in-game as an enemy / a friend'
'To continue the quest you need to find npc named Y in front of builng Z in front of the INN in town W'

The second option means that the game should hint just slightly:
'This chst looks interesting. I wonder if it can be used in the future.'
'Your choice may have consequences in the future'
'While exploring the town keep your eyes opened for the suspicious looking character'

Last option is a bit hard-core but probably most realistic. Players get no special hints.
'It's just a chest'
No information about consequences of choices.
Information about quests only included in dialogues.

Back on the right tracks!

Hello guys!

Great news! Lukenukeas is back after his finals and back on the project. With that said, he has provided me with the long awaited materials so the pace of my own work has increased yet again.

What was so important?
Well, the game will feature portaraits instead of the regular faces and I was entrusted with no less but 136 pictures od our main heroine (4 sets - naked and 3 different sets of clothes), meaning every set should consist of 34 different faces/poses!

Some trouble. Nothing serious hopefully.

Hi there guys,

Been a rather exhausting period at work for me lately, plus I had quite a number of private meetings and events last two weeks, therefore my game-working time shrunk greatly.

But I don't really consider it a problem. As most of you already know I can't unfortunately take care of the game a a full-time job, so that's only to be expected...

The harder part is that lukenukeas seems to have some PC/internet issues yet again and I was unable to reach him since the beginning of March, therefore I have to be delicate and slower about many issues I'm working on. I hope I can catch him and clarify few things as soon as possible.

I know that it might sound like a bother, but some harder periods are bound to happen. Luckily that doesn't affect my dedication to the project ;)

Also, as my work seems to be less and less popular on Patreon, I would just like to say a big thank you to those, who are still faithful supporters and if anyone reading my blogs can join this group I would really appreciate it.

Been a while ^^

Hey guys,

It's been around two weeks since I last posted. Well, it was quite good time for 'Civilization' so if anyone of you has grown worried I can say 'no need' the game is alive and well :)

But to be more specific:

I've done my first trials and errors period with plugins, so it is almost official now - some nice plugins will find their place in the project this time (none were used in the first game).

This fact is connected with another news. As the game is going to have a Mission Log I had to spend some time figuring the ropes. Luckily, I'm mostly past it and I have 20 quests already added, and none of these is just a totally random 'kill 20 enemies' or 'gather 10 herbs' with the only reason being 'because the game says so'. There are many more planned to start in the Babylonian part, so hopefully I will succeed in keeping you all busy ;)

Third part, lukenukeas has done some lovely sketches, we spent hours discussing details and I am happy with the amount of work he is doing. He knows how to put my mind at ease with his hard work.

Then again. I have rewrote the whole opening part and added a few new events and scenes. Good news for the gamers, who hated the fact that the intro could not be skipped. In the 'Civilization' you will be given four options of starting the game, one of these being a pure 'quick start' ;)

I have also spent quite some time preparing and implementing details of the abilities system, which should be vital in the gameplay.

Probably, other than these few things I have prepared some other things, but I have bad memory, so let's stop at this :)

An artistic decision.

Hello guys!

I am REALLY grateful to all of you for taking your time and voting in the latest poll. With 81 votes I can be sure that the results are 100% valid. With that said, a rather clear winner is the art style number 1, and it is highly possible that we will go with it while implementing arts in the Civilization. You can clearly look forward to seeing more from lukenukeas in the future (at least I hope so ^^) ;)

Also - just a short update on my condition: I am mostly past the cold period and I am gradually recovering the right pace of my work :)

A cold while waiting for the poll...

Hello there guys!

I've spent last 2 days almost entirely in bed, due to a cold and high fever. As it surely hindered my creativity, I tried to learn more about the issue with broken polls. Here is what i know now:
First of all it is relatively common issue, and the problem is due to the gadget being broken, therefore there is not much that I can do myself. Luckily, the technicians of the blogger stated that they will now look into the problem and it should be resolved soon. I can only wait for the time being, but as soon as they take care of it I will add the right polls.

Visiting with arts!

Hello guys,

I will start directly with some BIG news :) My friend lukenukeas (author of arts and facepacks for Prologue) has been ressurected and is willing to lend a hand with arts for 'Civilization'. A big hooray for him!

With that said, we've been discussing the art style we could be using for the 'Civilization', and here are three sketches, which are close to what we had in mind:

 
1. Probably the most realistic, most casual.
2.  Most playful and energetic of the three.
3. A one made for a real adventurer, with a bit different, but still comic-like style.

With this post comes a poll, where you can vote for the one you like the most!

As a bonus, here comes something directly from me and my lacking artistic hands: :D
How do you like it? I know it's nowhere as serious as many would imagine BUT would you like to see more of such arts exclusively on the collectible cards (NOT in the actual plot or facepacks)? :D

As happy as the return of lukenukeas has made me I am giving you guys TWO polls this week. And I STRONGLY encourage you to leave comments with your opinions or suggestions, as it is highly possible the chosen style will be implemented in facepacks and CGs!

A quick look at the progress.

Hey there,

I must admit that overally positive response to my small try in drawing came to me as a surprise... Really. The results were much better than I was expecting, and I'm seriously considering polishing my own skills, once other things are done ^^

Still, a quick update from me:
Currently mapping interiors of Babylon... Lately I've added some more side quests, some characters...
And, what might interest some of you, first basic game of the in-game Card Game, called 'Poke Her' is already playable in-game, and I think it looks nice already ;)
And here is my first attampt at deck building menu ;)

Day / Night lovers ;)

Hey there,

The poll about the day/night system has come to an end recently and it's quite clear to me that a great majority of you are into these little things. Good that I have it implemented already, although, of course not yet exploited, as there are just few events added in the Babylon for the time being ;)

This week I'm adding another poll, and I believe it will be the most difficult one in my polls history... In the same time it is one of the most important ones.

Here you can see the picture of a relatively naked body, which I've created myself using my computer...
The face is added from the RPG Maker facepack, but other than that 100% of drawing, coloring and shading was done by me. Of course, it's not a final version or anything and it still requires some improvement. I also know that my skills should improve with time as well...
The question on the right side however is about this picture you can see in this post. Please be honest while voting and of course share your comments if you have some :)

A game of cards? ;)

Greetings guys,

I've got myself busy with quite some smaller and bigger bits and the work is becoming smooth again.

I've already added the day/night system... Set few first in game events, and spent quite some time adding little things just to make the game look better :)

Here is the first idea of locating some bars ;)

Also, I'm planning to introduce a Trading Card Game System, with a rather uniqe but still playing style. Here is a design of a card with a SILLY (don't take it as a final art!) picture of Meretrix added on. Despitte the Character being put in here as a joke, the overal desgin of the card is REAL and serious.
How do you like the new ideas? If you find a spare moment, please share a comment ;)

Time machine ;)

Hello everybody,

As predicted, after the busy first half of the month, in last few days I'm back to a rather good pace of my work ;) I was finally able to spend a decent amount of time on PS and the Maker itself. This evening I'm continuing my tryouts on the new extended day/night system. Hopefully my ideas will come to your liking.

With that said, I will probably add a new poll soon to check your expectations from such systems, look forward to seeing it on the blog ;)

As we are now firmly in the new year, I would like to remind you that I'm searching for people interested in helping me with some graphic making and some regular artists :) Even the beginners with a faith in the quality of their work ;)

Slow start.

Hello there,

I haven't really made a flashy return to the project in 2016 year. It happens some of my regular job duties, and other stuff have taken the upper hand.

Obviously, it doesn't mean I've stopped working on the 'Civilization' at all, it is just that after a really fast progress in December the pace became lower and I just thought it's fair to step by and share this news with you all.

Back home!

Hi guys!

After a week of traveling due to my holidays I'm finally back at home with my PC, likely for a longer period of time :) I will most likely just have some sleep tonight, but starting tomorrow I should be back in Babylon, so no worries: The game's development will be progressing as planned ;)

There will be no new poll right now, but luckyly I will add something in time :)
