Happy new year!

Hello guys,

I know it's still early but I'm spending my Christmas-New Year holidays mostly away from my PC, and it's highly possible that the next time I'm here will be on 3rd or 4th January. That's also the time when I should resume the work on 'Civilization'.

Therefore I would like to wish all of you the greatest 2016 year you can imagine for yourself. I also hope you will stick to The Endless World in this time :)

I'm also glad that so many of you are once more taking part in the poll, because the results show that I shouldn't be worried about the mythological creatures in the game. Hopefully I will come up with another poll to greet the new year once I'm back from the holidays :)

Take care till then
and stay tuned!

Merry Christmas

Hello everone,

I just wanted to wish all of you Merry Christmas, I hope you will spend the holidays healthy and that this special time will be full of joy.

I know it's the time, when people exchange gifts, so I have tried my best to have something for you as well. With that said, here you can see a bit more of Babylon.
Mind that MOST of the human-sprites, which are possible to be seen were customized by me (clothes, some body parts, other details), and every single NPC has his or her own face (mostly created with the standard RPG Maker MV tool).
Also, in the movie it is possible to see just a part of the city, but other areas are also full of life.
Lastly: Sorry for the quality but the blog has converted the file while I was uploading it...

Keep tuned guys
and once more:

Merry Christmas
from
Hazze;)

Babylon is blooming and a poll.

Hello guys!

I'm currently working hard on Babylon, and it seems I might need to spend also January in this great city ^^ But one thing makes me smile, The city is growing and blooming with every day ;)

But the real reason for this post is that I've just started yet another poll, and I strongly believe it will be the last one in 2015, so I hope all of you will participate and I will have a nice feedback to think about while entering 2016 year ;)

As always, I could use some help with pixel arts (even some basic ones) and of course with regular art. If there is anyone willing to help, please contact me. It can REALLY increase the pace of my work ;)

Finally, if you like my work and wish to support me: COMMENT and/or visit my PATREON.
If you wish to support me, but you can't use Patreon from whatever reason, please contact me as well.

Take care guys during these short December days and long nights ;)

The Christmas are coming ^^

December in Photoshop.

With yet another poll nearing its end I'm pleased that more than 80% of you have greeted with enthusiasm my concept for the 'Civilization', while further 12% voted 'It can be good' so it's not a negative feedback either. This poll clearly shows that I've taken the right direction.

Another good news is that I'm working hard on the game. I spend most of my after-work time doing it. However, currently the whole dedicated time is spend in Photoshop, and I believe it might stay this way for quite a bit longer, as there is huge amount of work to be done (at least for someone with my level of pixel arts :P).

As a small teaser, I would like to introduce you the first idea for the main heroine:

Here is Meretrix's main face and both naked and clothed models.
The face was created with RPG MAKER MV creator. I have only adjusted the color of the hair to match the one from the 'Beginning'. The models are much more custom made.
I'm not planning to hold a poll to see if you like it or not. Therefore, if you wish to share your opinion about it, please do so in the comments.

Again: I encourage you all to participate in the next polls and if you like the project and can share some money, please support me on the PATREON.

Finally, I could use some help from people, who are willing to work with graphics (pixel, or real art) without being paid for it (at least not from the very start).

Full introduction of the 'Civilization'!

The time has come to reveal quite some details about my second game ‘The endless world – Civilization’, which is being created now.

PLOT

As most of you know, the game is the second title in the series and it will once more follow the adventures of the heroine – Meretrix. After her hardships in the Stone Age, and a long long sleep after, she is about to wake up in a totally different times – the Ancient Times.

ENGINE

‘Civilization’ does not stick to the RPG Maker VX Ace engine, and instead it is being created in RPG Maker MV, meaning the general look of the game will change a bit.

INCLUDED CULTURES

Many people asked me, which cultures will be present in the game, so here are some details:
Babylon, Greece, Rome and Egypt – these four are intended as the MAIN lands, which will be compulsory locations, during the main plot. However the game is about to offer a lot of side content and side exploration, meaning there will be other fully-optional well developed locations to discover like Capua or Crete. We can also encounter other cultures there, such as Asyrians or Summers.
The mapping of the first one of the big cities is already done, as well as the general overview of the World map.

DIRECTION OF THE GAME

The idea of ‘Civilization’ is to go a bit in the direction of sandbox, and to give every town/village its own life, meaning that Babylon will have its own group of stories, problems and interactions, while moving to Greece will greet us with brand new experiences, other quests and issues to follow. The only direct bridge between the locations will be the main-story.

COMPANIONS

The second game in the series will also introduce the companions system. They will be able to support the heroine during the in game mechanic events (i.e. battles) but all of them will be also given complex side contents and quests. Here, the important aspect for me is to avoid patterns. It won’t be like: ‘speak what the character likes to hear for the entire game, then the character will approach you and eventually you go to bed right before the final battle of the game – the end’. It is by far too mechanic for my taste. Therefore every companion will have an unique approach toward him or her. I wish to keep the companions system as one of the most important issues and keep the ideas here as fresh as possible.

GAMEPLAY TIME AND BRANCHING

In general – just as it was in the ‘Beginning’ – I intend to keep things fresh for the entire playing time, which should be at least a few times longer than in the first game.
Speaking of which: Although the game will be at times linear, mostly it is intended to stay branched.

The pattern here is: 1 shorter event linear leading to two branched longer events, both routes then lead to 1 shorter linear event (with some differences depending on the route chosen earlier), and then again are split into two totally different paths. If I was to say, I would guess that the main story will be around 30% linear and 70% branched, but it’s just a guess right now.

All in all, the game is intended to have even more choices than in the ‘Beginning’ count and change the outcome.

GRAPHICS

Unless a miracle occurs, and someone talented joins my ‘crew’, all the graphics will be created by me. That means – I will prepare all the custom made sprites – both for characters and for the maps. Of course not all the sprites will be custom made, and regular materials from the maker database will be used as well.

Currently I’m using facepacks created by RPG Maker MV, just slightly upgraded by myself. It is yet unknown if I won’t try to create fully custom made faces, but if I decide to do so, it will be done, when the game is mostly completed in other areas.

As for the CGs. There are three options I’m currently considering:

  1. If I can get more Patrons I will pay someone to create the needed arts in a great quality. However, due to the small interest in patronage of my project this solution is really unlikely...
  2. After the game is completed I will spend a month or two sketching and trying to do some amateur arts. If I will consider these good enough I will spend another month coloring and improving these. This way the game can include arts BUT it will greatly expand the time needed to release it. Also, I’m NO artist, I will just give it a try eventually.
  3. I can give up on the CGs, simply because I will have no technical means to create these… As much as I would wish to avoid this outcome, it is possible that ‘Civilization’ will follow in ‘Beginning’ footsteps and will be left without many arts…

BATTLES

Lastly, I have few words about battles. As the poll to see your desired systems is nearing the end, and the results are coming really close to what I was expecting, I intend to implement two systems. Players should be able to make a choice whether they prefer to follow the story with or without battles/leveling and so on. I have general idea how to do it, so I believe it should come up fine ;) It is highly possible that non-battling system will also include occasional instant result encounters, the option, which was desired by the players as well.

FINAL NOTE
The whole concept might change slightly while the work will be progressing. I’ve just gave you an overview of what is CURRENTLY on my mind. Although I usually STRONGLY follow my ideas and concepts, please don’t take this text as an exact promise.

SUPPORT
Also, if you can spare some money and you wish to support the development of ‘Civilization’, please support me on my PATREON PAGE. It is REALLY vital for the game’s development to gather funds, as otherwise I am left 100% with only me to cover all the fields. That means MUCH more time needed to create the game, and LESS content simply because I’m not talented equally on all the needed fields.

If there are any artists, who are willing to help my project, without requesting payment, please PM ME. I will be more than grateful for the support.

First tiny look at the 'Civilization'.

Hello there guys,

I have just finished mapping the first one of the four big cities in the 'Civilization' universe - Babylon. I would like to share a general concept with all of you so here it is:

Not sure, if the miniature looks cool in any way, so here are some details, which may impress you at least a bit more:
The map consists of 25 small and rather detailed maps, meaning that you can actually see 25 locations. Each district of Babylon has it's own name and it's own reason for being there, so there won't be any locations meant for just sightseeing. I won't reveal too many details, but I know that during the Christmas time many people think about gifts, so I will try to provide you with some tiny ones as well. Speaking of which, you can expect a bunch of information about the whole 'Civilization' shortly after the current poll is completed! If you can't wait to learn more about the second game of the series, stay tuned ;)

Also: Guys, feel free to share your comments!

Finally: As usual, I'm looking for graphic helpers and I would like to encourage you to visit my PATREON PAGE if you feel like supporting me.

Let's try some pixels ^^ and yet another poll

Hi there,

It's finally December, and I can tell that 'Civilization' is progressing just as planned. I have already done the opening part and events in RPG Maker and because the need arised, I've decided to try something else for at least next few days.

Therefore currently I spend most of my creative time studying and making sprites. As you all know the lack of supporting artists means I have to handle it myself. Also, as 'Civilization' is being created in RPG Maker MV many things will need to get brand new looks - including the main heroine - Meretrix.

In the meantime, next poll was completed with no less than 80 participant. That is obviously a result that makes me happy.

Most of you are hungry for the in game pictures, with 36 votes (45%) pointing that the game can feel incomplete without these, and another 13 (16%) claiming that CGs are the main reason for playing the game.
On the other hand, quite some of you are more interested in the story and other aspects. 23 (28%) people admitted that pictures are nice, but the game's plot and mechanics are more important, while exactly every tenth person (8 participants) is not really interested in the pictures.

As always - thank you all for voting, as it gives me a nice view at players desires.

Also, another poll is lunched today, and here are some tips on how to understand it:
* Battles are not needed - the game focuses ONLY on choices and other actions. If there are any fighting scenes needed they are fixed cutscenes.
* Old school - traditional battles with the new side view included with a handful of new skills solution. Obviously I would aim to avoid the problem with lengthy and 'all the same' encounters.
* Strategy like - most time consuming to implement, but might be interesting. Basically it's the idea which was used in the final T-Rex battle in 'Beginning'
* Instant result - another idea, which was already present in 'Beginning'. If you meet the requirements you win, if not, you lose. Of course I would clarify the condition more this time so these would be easy to follow.
* Other - Not sure, what ways you guys can have in mind. You can write suggestions in comments or PM me.
* No matter the way - if you wish to tell me 'I want battles to be present and the system is not important'.
